Reports - Report Statistics
In 2012, SafeLine received 2598 reports on illegal online activities. As shown by the latest statistics, it is obvious that reports received by SafeLine become more targeted and of higher quality in comparison to previous years. The largest percentage of the reports belongs to the category titled “Personal data” (34%). It is quite clear that one in three cases of the reports show a lack of respect of the online identity and the personal life of the internet users. The latter is also proved by the number of reports regarding Facebook (845 reports in total), that included creation of faux profiles, cyber bulling etc.
The reports received by SafeLine, whose content is confirmed as illegal and Greece is the place of origin, are forwarded to the Cyber Crime Unit of the Greek Police in Athens, as well as other independent Greek authorities, such as the Privacy Assurance Agency for Communications and Data Protection Authority. Where the illegal content is detected in a foreign country, then the reports are forwarded to the respective hotlines via the data base of INHOPE.
Content of reports

The factors behind the sky rocking increase of the recorded reports on Facebook are rather a difficult task for one to specify, however, the increased number of internet users that have created a Facebook profile is certainly one of them. As shown by the pie chart above, the percentage of the category Child Pornography (11%) in 2012 records an increase if compared to 2010 (6%).
