The different kinds of illegal content that Safeline operates
Child sexual abuse material. Child pornography has different legal definitions in different countries. The minimum definition of the notion is a picture that depicts a child engaged in or presented as being engaged in explicit sexual activity.
Racism and Xenophobia / Hate speech
Such content can be found online through the publication of opinions that aim to degrade or encourage discrimination or violence towards a person or a group based on attributes such as race, religion or sexual orientation.
Actions undertaken by an adult with the aim of approaching a child that has not attained the age of 15 years old, in order to lower the child’s inhibitions in preparation of sexual activity with the child or the commission of child pornography crimes.
Mostly appears in the form of online purchases
Personal data violation
The most common type of personal data violation reports that the hotline receives is data sharing in the form of publication or republication without the data subject’s consent.
Communication Privacy Breach
The communication between internet users can be compromised if the user’s social media or e-mail passwords have been breached
Revilement and defame
Dissemination of information through the use of the internet which aim at harming a person’s honor
Promotion of suicide
Reports can be submitted when users are trying to persuade another user to commit suicide. Reports can also be submitted in case of users expressing their wish to commit suicide.
Unsolicited messages sent by e-mail (spam)
Messages that we receive unwillingly in our electronic e-mail from unknown senders, which constitute unsolicited electronic communication.
Processing of a report
The user finds illegal material on the Internet and reports it to Safeline.
Safeline receives the report and tries to verify whether the content is in fact illegal or not.
Safeline verifies the report and locates the country of origin.
If the material originates abroad, then SafeLine informs the respective HOTLINE and INTERPOL.
If the material originates from Greece, then SafeLine informs the ενημερώνει την Greek Cyber Crime Division.
The Greek Cyber Crime Division proceed to find the perpatrators.
